Pop-Top or High Roof?

We broke it down simply:

• Pop-top: low profile for UK car-parks, great ventilation, and, when specified with a bed board, two extra berths.

• High roof: permanent headroom and overhead lockers; warmer and simpler in winter.

• Rule of thumb: choose based on parking in your area and how many need to sleep inside.

  
  

RIB vs Rock ’n’ Roll beds

Both are excellent when fitted correctly. RIB delivers M1-tested seating comfort with integrated belts; rock ’n’ roll shines for quick day→night conversion and budget. Your back will decide, try both.

Power systems that just work

Quiet, dependable power beats big batteries. A tidy 12V leisure setup with DC-DC charging (Euro 6/6d-friendly), correct fusing and service access covers 90% of UK touring. Add lithium or solar if you spend long stretches off-grid; otherwise, AGM + DC-DC + a quality mains charger is perfect.

DVLA motor caravan registration

We explained the difference between using a camper and being recorded as a “motor caravan” on the V5C. If you meet the exterior cues (windows, awning rail, graphics, high-top if applicable) and interior cues (table, sleeping, cooking, storage), registering can help with insurance, MOT class and sometimes ferry fares.
