What's the difference between a campervan and a motorhome?

A campervan is a converted van — under 5m, fits a normal parking space, looks like a regular van. A motorhome is much larger, built on a chassis-cab, with full standing height.

Is a VW Transporter campervan worth the money?

For UK roads, parking, fuel and resale — yes. The Transporter holds value better than any other base van and stays usable as an everyday vehicle.

Should I choose a T5, T6 or T6.1 as my base van?

T5 (2003–2015) is cheapest and easiest to insure. T6 (2015–2019) adds Euro 6 and a quieter cab. T6.1 (2019+) adds electric steering, lane assist and the latest safety kit.

Pop-top roof or high roof — which should I get?

A pop-top keeps the van under 2m for car parks and only lifts when you camp. A high roof gives permanent standing height but loses car-park access. We recommend a pop-top for around 90% of UK customers.

What's the difference between a RIB bed and a Rock 'n' Roll bed?

A RIB bed is a sliding three-point seat that doubles as a bed; a Rock 'n' Roll bed is a folding bench. Both are seatbelt-approved. RIBs feel better daily; Rock 'n' Rolls give a flatter, longer bed.

A fully-converted, ready-to-drive Transporter from SinFin sits between £22,000 and £37,000 depending on age, mileage and spec. A new conversion on a van you provide is £15,000–£25,000.

How long does a full conversion take?

8–12 weeks at our Derby workshop for a full bespoke build. Partial conversions and upgrades take 2–4 weeks. We share weekly progress photos throughout.

Do you do partial conversions or just full builds?

Both. We can fit a pop-top only, install a rock-n-roll bed, upgrade electrics or add a diesel heater — whatever you need.

What's included in a standard SinFin conversion?

Insulation, ply-lined interior, rock-n-roll bed, twin-burner hob with sink, 12V fridge, leisure battery with 240V hook-up, LED lighting, blackout curtains and a pop-top roof. Heaters, solar, air-con and swivel seats are optional extras.

Do you accept part exchange (PX)?

Yes — PX is welcome. Bring us your car, van or camper and we'll value it against the van you're buying. We handle all the paperwork.

What's included in your warranty?

Accepted Answer

Every conversion comes with a 12-month parts-and-labour warranty on the conversion (cabinetry, electrics, bed, kitchen, heating). Vehicle warranty depends on the base van's age and mileage.

What happens if something goes wrong after I drive away?

Call us. We'll diagnose the issue and either fix it at our workshop or arrange a local repair and reimburse you. Every customer gets our direct number.

Do I need to tell the DVLA my van is now a campervan?

Accepted Answer

You can use a converted van without re-classification, but registering it as a 'motor caravan' unlocks lower dual-carriageway speed limits, simpler insurance and better resale.

How do I stop condensation in my campervan?

Two people breathing on a cold night can put a litre of water into the air. Ventilate first, dehumidify second, insulate third.

How do I keep my campervan warm in winter?
