Frequently Asked Questions
What does a base van look like before conversion?
A factory VW Transporter panel van — bare metal walls, painted ply floor, no insulation, no windows in the rear, and a single bulkhead behind the cab. Everything else gets added during conversion.
Can I see Sinfin's base vans before they're converted?
Yes — book a workshop visit to see what we start with. We often have several base vans in stock at different conversion stages, which makes it easy to picture the journey from panel van to finished campervan.
Do I get to choose my own base van for conversion?
Yes. You can either source your own VW Transporter and bring it to us, or have us source one to your spec — typically T5, T6 or T6.1 depending on budget and use case.
How do you inspect a base van before starting a conversion?
We check for rust around sills, wheel arches and rear chassis, confirm a clean service history, run an HPI check, test all electrics, and flag any concerns to you before committing the van to conversion. Anything serious gets addressed first.
Where can I see finished Sinfin Campervans in person?
At our Derby workshop by appointment, or at events through the year — Camper Jam, VW Spring Social and smaller meets. Follow our Facebook or Instagram for current event dates.
